{"id":7907,"date":"2015-03-09T14:45:10","date_gmt":"2015-03-09T21:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/54.213.246.179\/?p=7907"},"modified":"2021-08-15T10:32:56","modified_gmt":"2021-08-15T17:32:56","slug":"provincial-girls-basketball-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sportswave.ca\/provincial-girls-basketball-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Provincial Girls Basketball Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Provincial Girls Basketball Championships wrapped up at the Langley Event Centre\u00a0that saw\u00a0the\u00a0Provincial Champions\u00a0crowned in both the AA and\u00a0AAA side.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Juniors divisions congrats Basketball BC was\u00a0features grades\u00a04 to 7 which features stars of tomorrow.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Championship games took in three (3)\u00a0divisions with exciting games that played to a packed house at the LEC.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In the Girls Triple AAA Championship game,\u00a0the Brookswood Bobcats stunned WJ Mouat by a margin of 60-48\u00a0and captured their\u00a02nd \u00a0Provincial title.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Being no stranger to the sport Bobcats Coach Neil Brown pulled this off as\u00a0a runner up to Oak Bay in 2013.<a href=\"http:\/\/54.213.246.179\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Neil-Brown.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-7910 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/54.213.246.179\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Neil-Brown.jpg\" alt=\"Neil Brown\" width=\"305\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sportswave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Neil-Brown.jpg 305w, https:\/\/www.sportswave.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Neil-Brown-300x162.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>This is\u00a0fifth (5)\u00a0Provincial\u00a0title in the history of the school\u00a0since 2000 and\u00a0the school&#8217;s success began\u00a0ran\u00a0from 2004-06 under coach Scott Reeves.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Bobcats Aislinn Konig led the Bobcats with 26 points and was named the tournament MVP and top defensive player for the second straight year.<\/div>\n<div>For the W.J. Mouat Wildcats it was tough loss as they were running neck and with the champs\u00a0trailing 46-40 only down by 6 until the Bobcats\u00a0brought their A game in the final\u00a0quarter.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>They managed to outscore and outplay the Wildcats 14-8 in all areas of the court and captured the 2015\u00a0title of Provincial Champions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Third place went to the Oak Bay Bays who finished third with another top three finish for the third (3rd)\u00a0consecutive year in the tournament.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In the AA Girls final, the Little Flower Academy took on the Immaculata Mustangs who moved up this year single A in the Provincials.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Immaculata took the Girls AA final 68-55 over Little Flower Academy their first year after moving up from single A an amazing achievement this school.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This game saw the lead change twice\u00a0with the longest run by the Mustangs in the second half 14-2, enabling them to pull away from Little Flower Academy for the 13 point win.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Junior Girls game was\u00a0an all Surrey final as Panorama Ridge took on Lord Tweedsmuir and after a\u00a0close first half in\u00a0which Lord Tweedsmuir led 23-20, Panorama Ridge came back\u00a0for the\u00a0win the 58-35 and captured the Provincial title.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>An outstanding Provincial tournament by all the teams that participated throughout the four days in winning their regions to get here.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Congratulations to\u00a0the Langley Event Centre\u00a0for hosting yet another outstanding tournament, and up next is the Boy&#8217;s event this week.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Presenting them with Red Roses and the memory of a lifetime with a group picture they will cherish forever.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Here is the list (in order of finish)\u00a0of\u00a0Champions that captured Provincial titles.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>AAA Brookswood Bobcats<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>AA Immaculata Mustangs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A Langley Christian<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Junior Panorama Ridge Thunder<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Grade 9 Immaculata Mustangs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Grade 8 Walnut Grove.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Provincial Girls Basketball Championships wrapped up at the Langley Event Centre\u00a0that saw\u00a0the\u00a0Provincial Champions\u00a0crowned in both the AA and\u00a0AAA side.
